Alexander Technique

"An Alexander Technique session with Francesca is not just a compassionate, caring adjustment of your body posture, it is a hands-on lesson on self-awareness, -reflection and -discovery, something you can take with you to exercise on a daily basis. During the welcome session, I got to perform the most ordinary movements - sitting down on a chair, lying down - but for the first time in my life, I was encouraged to pay close attention to how I did it exactly and how these movements changed and were experienced in my body, after Francesca’s gentle adjustments. I was stunned about some of the discoveries and realisations: why did I move in a certain way, how much tension did I have in certain areas!

In our every day life we mostly move automatically, unconsciously, in a way that we are used to or have learned to move due to particular patterns of behaviour. Through conscious, easy and efficient movement we can free a lot of tension in our body, save energy and become not only more present, but also healthier and more relaxed. Francesca’s signature approach of under-doing and mindful self-care - so familiar from her qi gong and yoga classes - is the main guiding line of Alexander Technique as well.
