“The Nervous System Toolkit: Simple Practices for Everyday Balance”
Saturday September 13, 2025 // 14:00 - 16:30, Balanzs Prinseneiland // Sign-up here
Our bodies have brilliantly evolved to keep us alive. At the heart of this is our autonomic nervous system, which is always paying attention, “listening” to what’s happening inside us and around us. Its main job is to decide whether we’re safe, and based on that, it automatically sets in motion the feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that help us respond.
In this workshop, you’ll learn about the basic states of your nervous system and how to recognize them through your feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. With this knowledge, you can develop greater self-compassion and skill in responding to yourself and others.
We’ll then practice simple, body-based tools designed to help your body recover more quickly from stress and return to feelings of safety, clarity, and calm. These include gentle movement, breath, touch, and meditation, drawing on both contemporary body-based therapies and traditional practices like Qigong and Yoga. You’ll leave with practical skills to bring more ease, clarity, and resilience into daily life. No previous experience with yoga or nervous system education is required. This workshop is beginner-friendly, trauma-aware, and open to all.
About Qigong:
Qigong, or “Qi (Life energy) cultivation,” is one of the five pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It includes practices such as movement, breathwork, self-massage, and meditation. Qigong is well-known for its many health benefits, including: reducing stress and pain; increasing mobility, coordination, and energy; balancing the nervous system; improving immune function; supporting healing; and the list goes on! The philosophy can also change how we approach our entire lives - away from burnout, and toward sustainable well-being and ease.
These Qigong classes are non-dogmatic, meditative, and include joyful practices for daily life.
